Rolo Tomassi Announce New Album, Drop New Single
Rolo Tomassi, arguably the best metal band ever to take their name from a semi-obscure James Ellroy reference, will release a new album, Where Myth Becomes Memory, on February 24 via MNRK (né eOne).
With the announcement comes a new song, “Drip,” which is technically the second single from the record, after August’s “Cloaked.” It’s not easy to pin down Rolo Tomassi’s vibe — their previous work ranges from mathcore to semi-ambient electronica — but based on “Cloaked” and now “Drip,” the general vibe of Where Myth Becomes Memory seems to be Arch Enemy by way of Chvrches.
And you know what? I. Am. HERE for it. I thought “Cloaked” was tight, but “Drip” is tight. Some fans might bitch that Rolo Tomassi have simplified their sound, but I’d argue they’ve upgraded their songwriting. Myth may be to Rolo Tomassi as Ire Works was to The Dillinger Escape Plan: an album that widens their audience without sacrificing their artistic authenticity. I’m super-stoked to hear the rest.
Comments keyboardist/pianist/vocalist comments:
“This is a really important album for all of us. Of anything we’ve done, it’s the one I’m most proud of. I think it’s the most ambitious and creative that our band has ever sounded and something that we’ve all needed to get through the last few years. We can’t wait to share it and to have you help us bring it to life.”
