Battle Beast Drop New Banger, “Master of Illusion”

I never paid much attention to Battle Beast before today, and frankly I’m not sure why. I like Sabaton, I like Iron Maiden, I like Children of Bodom, I like Unleash the Archers… all bands that have some sonic similarities to Battle Beast. Shame on me, I guess?

I may be 15 years late to the party, but I’m here to confess the error of my ways and tell you that the band’s new single, “Master of Illusion,” is a super-fun power metal party good time! I’ve been missing out. Maybe you have too.

Here’s keyboardist Janne Björkroth to explain it:

“The first single from the upcoming Battle Beast album, ‘Master of Illusion’, is a groovy and catchy song that makes dance floors roar and disco balls explode.

“The story of the song is about a self-centered, greedy, narrow-minded, and thoughtless character, who sows destruction all around without listening to or respecting others. The character may represent various things in the many arenas of power – for example, those of personal relationships, as well as in politics, and everywhere in between.

“Despite these heavy themes, there is playfulness in the composition, lyrics, and production, and the small twinkle in the corner of the eye that characterizes Battle Beast.”

“Master of Illusion” comes from Battle Beast’s newly announced album, Circus of Doom, due on January 21, 2022. Give it a listen below.
