Video: Nita Strauss Gets Hit in the Head with Alice Cooper’s Cane on Stage
Alice Cooper guitarist Nita Strauss, an acclaimed shredder in her own right, just announced a solo tour set for later this year. Surely she didn’t expect to get this kind of press bump so soon after the announcement, but hey, all press is good press, right?
It certainly makes it easier to laugh off since she’s doing just fine. But, as you gathered from this article’s headline, Strauss took a cane to the dome at Cooper’s performance last night (Thursday, October 7) in Charlotte, NC.
During the set’s opening song, Cooper’s iconic “Feed My Frankenstein,” the singer twirled his trademark cane and smacked it into the ground, at which point it snapped… and a piece went flying, cracking Strauss right on the head mid-song. And she shook it right off and kept playing like a true pro!
The incident was of course captured on video by a fan and is now available for the world to see. Nita herself re-posted the clip along with a close-up of the bruise on her forehead, adding:
“When I joined the @alicecooper band in 2014, he gave me the same promise he gives all the touring band members:
‘You’re going to see the world, you’re going to get paid, and you’re going to get stitches.’“He left out ‘oh and you may get brained by flying broken cane pieces from the first song’ ????
“All in a day’s work on an Alice Cooper tour ???? no real harm done ????????????”
No stitches needed, thankfully!
