Video: Dave Grohl Drums With His Teeth

As die-hard music fans, we’ve all got little ticks that compel us, almost uncontrollably, to hum/sing/tap/etc. along with the music constantly playing in our heads in our own unique way. We generally developed these as kids or teenagers when we first got into music, and over time kinda tamped them down, only to be enjoyed in private. But they can be really frickin’ weird and highly specific habits! You know you’ve got one!

The Foo Fighters frontman is no different, having developed the unique ability of clattering his teeth together in tightly controlled movements to “drum” along to his favorite songs. He did it so much as a kid that his dentist noticed Grohl’s teeth had an unusual amount of wear for a ten or 11-year-old, which prompted Grohl to demonstrate his talent for the horrified dentist.

Grohl relayed the story on a recent episode of The Howard Stern Show and even gave a demo of his teeth-drumming talent on air, right up close and into the mic. And it’s impressive as hell! Watch below.
