Monuments and Composer Mick Gordon Release New Single, “Lavos”

0

Monuments must be in a bit of a weird place right now having parted ways with guitarist Olly Steele earlier this year. But that hasn’t stopped the band’s forward momentum, as they’ve just put out a collaborative track called “Lavos” with composer/musician Mick Gordon, best known for his work on the Doom video game franchise.

Fans of Monuments should find the band’s sound mostly what they expect it to be, although Gordon has brought an unmistakable cinematic element to the mix. It’s a decent tune, and I can’t imagine Monuments fans not digging it. Give it a spin below.

No word on an upcoming album from the band, which would be their first since Phronesis (2018) as well as their first without Steele.

Monuments put out two other standalone singles over the past couple of years,  “Animus” and “Deadnest,” which reunited the band with drummer Mike Malyan and introduced fans to new singer Andy Cizek.

Steele, meanwhile, released the new solo track “Try” earlier this year, featuring Malyan, Karnivool vocalist Ian Kenny and SikTh bassist James Leach. You can listen to that here.
