Limp Bizkit Debut Studio Recording of New Song “Dad Vibes”
Limp Bizkit have released the studio recording of their new song “Dad Vibes” and I don’t hate it and so now I don’t know what life even means anymore.
I mean I don’t like it. I wouldn’t actively put it on. It would be 110% improved if the rapping were by almost anyone besides Fred Durst. And I can’t believe Wes Borland gets paid for this. How many takes do you think it took to get his literally one guitar lick for the song? I’m picturing some Krusty the Clown-level shit right here.
But I don’t hate “Dad Vibes,” either. It didn’t make me throw up all over my shoes the way “Nookie” did in 1999. The hook didn’t make me mourn for the loss of popular culture as we know it, didn’t make me long to be deaf. The fact that the song’s lyrics actually seem to be about a stereotypical American suburban dad is a little bit funny.
So. Y’know. Fuck me naked with a spoon.
You can listen to the song below. The group originally debuted it for the crowd at Lollapalooza in August.
Allegedly there’s gonna be a new Limp Bizkit album someday, but guitarist Wes Borland recently revealed it hasn’t come out because Durst is a perfectionist. That seemed dumb until I heard “Dad Vibes.” If this is what happens when Fred Durst actually puts some goddamn effort in, I’m all for it. Yes, he’s working very hard just to achieve the bare minimum, but that’s still better than “Break Stuff” and fucking up songs by The Who.
