Wife of The Obsessed Drummer Brian Costantino Has Died of Covid-19
Susie Costantino, the wife of The Obsessed drummer Brian Costantino, has died of Covid-19.
While immeasurably sad on its own, the news is especially notable in light of recent events. Eric Wagner, formerly of Trouble, whose current band The Skull was on tour with The Obsessed when he contracted Covid-19, tragically died last month from the virus at the age of 62 (he was staunchly against getting vaccinated). Days earlier, The Obsessed band-leader Scott “Wino” Weinrich had referred to Covid-19 as a “depopulation tool” created by the U.S. government, a belief he doubled-down on after Wagner’s death, saying that opinion is “rooted in science” that is being “suppressed and censored.”
Just five days ago, Wino posted on social media that The Obsessed had canceled their planned September tour because “the bassist” — Brian “Wendy” White — “flip flopped” on his participation in the tour, adding that the dates were “NOT cancelled because of an illness, death or RUMOUR.” He made no mention of Brian or Susie in his statement, which reads in full as follows:
“Ok to be clear, The Obsessed have cancelled our September Dates solely because, the bassist flip flopped and first said yeah , then no . Thats what happened. They were NOT cancelled because of an illness , death ,or RUMOUR. Apologies to friends and fans for the cancellations, but remember this is the time of lies . Always check this site or -theobsessedofficial.com first for the real story and facts on any wino or the Obsessed related gigs. Again , we must unite to survive . Love and truth will guide us ! Wino – 9/ 7/ 2021 Y.O.T.P.”
A GoFundMe campaign launched to cover the costs of Susie’s funeral is seeking $50,000 in donations. The mission statement posted there pays tribute to Susie, reading in part:
“If you knew Susie you know she was truly a genuine, sweet soul who loved the Lord and shined a light in this world that will burn forever in the lives of those blessed to know her. Susie’s last few weeks here on earth were a battle, and please know she fought like a true Wheaton Girl. Susie loved with everything she had. Her friends were her family, her family was her life, her animals were her children, and her husband, Brian, was her heart. Susie always had a kind word and she could find the good in anyone. One of the first things Brian said after she left this world was ‘If you think of Susie, you can’t help but smile’, and he is absolutely right.”
Afriend of Susie’s confirmed the cause of her death on Facebook, referring to the virus in her first sentence as “this God awful MAN made virus!”, echoing Wino’s previously stated beliefs:
On behalf of everyone at MetalSucks, we wish Susie’s family, friends, and of course Brian, all the best.
Please, please get vaccinated. You can use this tool to find vaccine availability near you.

Note: An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated that the GoFundMe page for Susie did not mention her cause of death as Covid-19.
