Mastodon Announce Double Album, Post First Single, “Pushing the Tides”
Mastodon began teasing something earlier this week, and lo and behold, they’ve now announced that a new album, Hushed and Grim, is on the way. What’s more, its first single, “Pushing the Tides,” is out now!
Mastodon spent the early part of the pandemic in their own recording studio working on enough material for two records — Brann Dailor previously said that the band had enough songs for a “doom” record and a “rippers” record — and they’ve forged ahead with plans for both, releasing them as a double album. “Pushing the Tides” sounds to me like it’s off the “rippers” side, but we’ll have to wait before judging.
The cover artwork, above, was designed by Paul Romano, who also helmed the same for Remission, Leviathan, Call of the Mastodon, Blood Mountain and Crack The Skye.
