Grinder Blues (Feat. Doug Pinnick of King’s X) Offer New Single, “Gotta Get Me Some of That”
King’s X bassist and vocalist Doug Pinnick is a rock and roll warrior of the highest order. At 70 years old, the dude is still pushing himself creatively, working as hard as ever, and absolutely crushing it! And the new release by his Grinder Blues project is proof.
Rooted in blues, as the name implies, the band — which also features Doug’s biological brothers, guitarist Jabo Bihlman and drummer Scot “Little” Bihlman” — take all sorts of turns into other territory. “Gotta Get Me Some of That,” the debut single from the trio’s sophomore album, is not fully unlike King’s X, but it’s somehow a bit less restrained, more fun, rougher around the edges. It’s also crazy catchy and allows all three musicians plenty of room to spread out and show off over the course of its four-minute runtime. It’d a doozy!
Pinnick explains:
“The idea for the music was to stay away from the clichés and rock out. If we felt like we were heading into any songs that seemed like standard blues lyrically or musically, we made it a point to veer in the opposite direction.”
El Dos comes out on September 24 via Metalville. Check out “Gotta Get Me Some of That” below.
