“Raise Your Fists” to KK’s Priest’s Newest Jam
KK’s Priest, the new band led by former Judas Priest guitarist K.K. Downing, have released “Raise Your Fists,” the fourth single from their forthcoming debut album, Sermons of the Sinner.
This much is clear four singles in: K.K. Downing still knows his way around a riff. I don’t think anyone can fairly claim that he’s “lost it” or that the music he’s writing isn’t up to snuff. If you feel the very idea of the project is a slap in the face to Judas Priest, or to you Rob Halford’s voice IS Judas Priest, I get that. But K.K. as a hack? Nah, not hearing it.
The band also features former Judas Priest vocalist Tim “Ripper” Owens, guitarist A.J. Mills (Hostile), bassist Tony Newton (Voodoo Six), and drummer Sean Elg (Deathriders, Cage), who replaced former Judas Priest drummer Les Binks at some point along the way.
Downing recently said that he feels “justified” in using the Priest moniker in his new band’s name, citing his legacy with Judas Priest and a misunderstanding surrounding his departure from the band in 2011.
You can listen to “Raise Your Fists” below. Sermons Of The Sinner will come out on October 1 (after being pushed back from August 20) via Explorer1 Music Group/EX1 Records.
