The Zenith Passage = 3/4 of The Faceless Now, Post New Single “Algorithmic Salvation”
Michael Keene has brought a number of notable musicians through the ranks of The Faceless over the years, to say the least. And now two of the most notable notables have joined up with fellow ex-The Faceless member Justin McKinney in his own band, The Zenith Passage, creating a Voltron-like new version of the already impressive technical death metal outfit.
Few folks would disagree with the assertion that the classic Faceless vocalist is Derek Rydquist, who performed on their first two albums. Ditto for bassist Brandon Giffin, whose time closely overlaps Rydquist’s. Both are now in The Zenith Passage, joining McKinney, whose time in The Faceless came later, from 2015 through 2018. Matt Paulazzo, who never played in The Faceless but has done time in Aegeaon, Alluvial, Decrepit Birth, Abiotic and The Black Dahlia murder, returns to TZP on drums.
No fans of The Faceless should have any complaints about this lineup. No fans of The Zenith Passage should have any complaints about this lineup. And no fans of supremely sick, high-energy, groove-laden technical death metal should have any complaints about “Algorithmic Salvation,” the brand new single from this cast of characters. Today is a banner day for death metal! Huzzah!
