Black Crown Initiate Launch Patreon Campaign
Despite the proliferation of Patreon throughout the music scene in recent years, the platform is far underutilized in the metal community. While YouTubers and other types of content creators are all over Patreon — which allows bands to offer fans direct access to special benefits and exclusive content for a monthly fee — there simply aren’t many notable metal artists doing it. Darkest Hour, Alissa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy), Ne Obliviscaris and Allegaeon come to mind… I’m hard-pressed to think of others.
Add one more to the list: progressive death metallers Black Crown Initiate have now jumped onto Patreon. For as little as $5 per month you can gain access to exclusive content, and the higher tiers ($10, $25 and $50/month) include very cool perks like a monthly group video chat with the band, access to a members-only Discord, exclusive merch, and private performance videos from vocalist James Dorton and guitarist Andy Thomas. Who could pass up the opportunity to hear Dorton read children’s books to you? Also, my personal favorite: every tier comes with one tree planted in your honor every month via Trees for the Future.
Sign up right here. I really hope to see more metal bands doing this in the future, because it doubles as a fantastic way to connect directly with fans and a potentially lucrative income source (everyone wins!).
