Mayhem Release New Single and Video “You Guys High?”
Mayhem have released “Voces Ab Alta,” the first single from their forthcoming, cumbersomely-titled EP, Atavistic Black Disorder / Kommando. I punched the song title into the old Google Translate, and it told me that it’s “You Guys High.” As in, “You think this doesn’t sound like every other Mayhem song ever released? You guys high?”
As much as it delighted me to think that Mayhem wrote a song called “You Guys High?”, I assumed this as incorrect and double-checked. Alas, it’s actually Latin for “From the Deep.” Boooorrrrrrinnnnnnggggg.
So, in my mind — and I hope in all of yours! — this song shall forever be known as “You Guys High?”. Amen.
ANYWAY, you can check out the track via the below animated video by Costin Chioreanu (Ghost, Opeth, Napalm Death). The animation is very cool, and, incidentally, will probably be extra-appealing to you guys who are high.
Mayhem’s Atavistic Black Disorder / Kommando is out July 9 on Century Media. It includes three cuts from the sessions for Daemon (2019) — “Black Glass Communion” and “Everlasting Dying Flame,” which were used as bonus tracks, and the previously unreleased “You Guys High?” – alongside four covers of punk songs by the Ramones, Dead Kennedys, Discharge, and Rudimentary Peni. Pre-order it here.
