Darkthrone Release New Song “Hate Cloak”

Speaking of classic Norwegian black metal bands with interesting tastes in album and song names: Darkthrone have released “Hate Cloak,” the first single from their most-excellently titled upcoming album Eternal Hails…… (not the typo — the abundance of ellipses is part of it).

True to Fenriz’s promise about the material on Eternal Hails……, “Hate Cloak” is long (9:17) and has an apparent doom influence. It also sounds way less polished than Darkthrone’s recent output; production-wise, it’s much closer to A Blaze in the Northern Sky than Arctic Thunder or Old Star.

Speaking about the song, its writer, the aforementioned Mr. Fenriz, says:

“’Hate Cloak’ is certainly the slowest song on the album, there are plenty of ‘fast’ parts on [Nocturno Culto’s] songs, middle tempos and slow as well. The whole point of us having long songs is variation in tempos/pace, hence the epicness.”

In other news, I will now ben ending as many sentences with “hence the epicness” as I possibly can.
