Alice in Chains and The Dillinger Escape Plan Members are in the Studio Together
Just a few months before the pandemic shut the world down, ex-The Dillinger Escape Plan vocalist Greg Puciato joined Alice in Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell on stage for the latter’s solo show in Los Angeles, performing the Chains classics “Would?” and “Down in a Hole,” (tackling Layne Stayley’s parts) and a cover of “Who’ll Stop the Rain” by John Fogerty.
Now it appears Cantrell is returning the favor by contributing to Puciato’s next solo album, the follow-up to his debut, Child Soldier: Creator of God, which came out last year.
The PRP reports that recording sessions for the effort are taking place at the Foo Fighters‘ Studio 606, sharing a photo originally posted on Jerry’s Instagram of the two together. Jesse Draxler (a frequent Puciato collaborator who co-runs Puciato’s Federal Prisoner label), producer Steve Evetts (The Dillinger Escape Plan, Every Time I Die) and Poison The Well drummer Chris Hornbrook are all also pictured in other social media posts related to the sessions.
Neat, right? I’m automatically excited for anything either Puciato or Cantrell put their hands on, but triply so for something with both of them together. Puciato is said to have contributed to Cantrell’s long-gestating solo album as well.
More as soon as we have it.
