An Apology to Riley’s Family, Friends and Fans

MetalSucks made a huge error in judgment yesterday. If you have no idea what we’re talking about, great; if you do, know that we deleted it last night, and have reached out directly to other sites to request they do the same.

We would like to sincerely apologize, from the bottom of our hearts, to Riley’s family, friends, band members and fans for causing undue hurt. We are very, very sorry, and we are absolutely gutted and sick over it.

Our intent was to raise awareness around a very important issue, but there were better ways we could have done that. We admit we were wrong. We realize the damage is done. We realize that no apology will undo anything. We expect, and accept, that this apology will not be enough for many.

We have made a donation to Dallas Hope Charities, Riley’s family’s charity of choice. We realize no donation will “fix” anything either, but we do wish to see his legacy carried on in the form of the youth center currently being planned there in his honor. Further, we do not wish to profit from this incident.

We have nothing but respect for Riley’s legacy and have no doubt our actions going forward will show that. Riley was a visionary, a pioneer, a consummate frontman, performer and musician, and, by all accounts — and we do mean ALL accounts — an absolutely wonderful person.
