Video: Grindcore Band Performs at French Palace for President Macron

French grindcore band Ultra Vomit performed for President Emmanuel Macron in the gorgeous gardens of his Elysee presidential palace this past weekend while Macron, with a horrified look on his face, sat and watched. How’d they land the coveted gig? They won a bet.

Back in February, Macron challenged two popular French YouTubers, McFly and Carlito — who together have over 6 million subscribers — to make a video about safety during the pandemic: mask-wearing, social distancing, disinfecting, the whole lot. If the video garnered 10 million views, he said, they’d be welcomed to the Elysee.

The pair handily won the bet and were allowed to shoot a 36-minute video at the presidential palace. The grand finale of that video features Ultra Vomit performing a grind version of the French lullaby “A Green Mouse” (“Une souris verte”).
