Red Fang’s “Why” Video Is Like Boogie Nights Starring Chuck E. Cheese
Red Fang continue to be the metal band with the most consistently-awesome music videos.
For their latest clip, “Why,” they’ve reunited with director Ansel Wallenfang, who is perhaps best known for his black metal Easter eggs video from 2014, as well as his previous work for Red Fang, on the “Antidote” game and video (he also apparently directed a Weight Watchers Super Bowl commercial a few years back). The video tells the story of a fictional pizza chain mascot, Arnie Von Party, and his sad fall from grace. It’s like Boogie Nights starring Chuck E. Cheese. And I actually found the ending bleaker and more depressing than Boogie Nights.
Not hurting things, of course, is that the music is excellent.
Check out the “Why” video below. The song will appear on Red Fang’s new album, Arrows, which comes out June 4 on Relapse. Check out the title track and the song “Funeral Coach,” and pre-order the album here.
