Limp Bizkit’s “Break Stuff”: The Broadway Version
One of the best things about mash-ups and Internet remaginings is the way they can take a truly horrendous song and turn it into something listenable. Put together Korn with Cher Lloyd, and suddenly Korn and Cher Lloyd don’t make you wanna stab yourself in the ears. Add some Slipknot to the Baha Men’s “Who Let the Dogs Out,” and the track goes from being the most irritating song of all time to only the second-most irritating song of all time. If Disturbed fired David Draiman and replaced him with a kitten, they might actually be good.
Sadly, this viral version of Limp Bizkit’s “Break Stuff” as a Broadway show tune does not really improve one of the much-maligned nu-metal band’s most insipid songs. Maybe if it were more Leonard Bernstein, less Ragtime…?
Regardless, I don’t think the fault really lies with the creator: their YouTube channel is called There I Ruined It, but in this case, there was nothing to ruin.
