Baby Legally Named “Korn” by Accident
Misspelled names on birth certificates aren’t terribly uncommon, often due to a clerical error or handwriting mishap by one of any number of people in charge of registering newborns at hospitals.
One such mistake took place on April 10 when a Seattle, WA mother gave birth to a baby she intended to name Kora. She isn’t quite sure how it all went wrong, but the baby ended up with a first name of Korn on its birth certificate. The mother learned of the error when she received the birth certificate in the mail this past Friday, April 23, and posted a photo to Twitter soon thereafter. It wasn’t long before the story went viral and sent Korn fans into hysterics.
In a series of tweets, the mother, who goes by Kells on Twitter, posted:
“THE HOSPITAL MESSED UP MY BABYS NAME AND WE JUST GOT THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND ITS KORN MY BABYS NAME IS LEGALLY KORN
“1. The name is supposed to be Kora
“2. Yes this should be able to be easily fixed if we are fast!
“3. There is a chance they may have had me double check this but to be fair I was down a lot of blood at the time ????????????
“This reached Korn fan twitter and I’m into it”
The tweet has over 131,000 likes and 15,000 retweets and 1,600 comments as of the time we’re writing this. Thankfully both mother and baby are healthy as far as we know. Korn the band have yet to comment.
