Josh Rand (Stone Sour) Unveils New Band, The L.I.F.E. Project
Stone Sour co-founder Josh Rand is accustomed to long hiatuses, often made to wait by his more famous bandmate, Corey Taylor, whose priority will always be Slipknot. In that sense, the band’s current dormant period is no different from those in the past, despite the headline-grabbing nature of it.
This time around Rand has chosen to fill the void with a new band, The L.I.F.E. Project, a collaboration with Paralandra singer and guitarist Casandra Carson. On the band’s debut song, “The Nothingness,” released today, Stone Sour fans will find plenty to relate to; I won’t say it’s just Stone Sour with a different singer, but it’s certainly not too far off from that. And that’s fine! It’s a solid song with a chunky main riff and a catchy hook, and Carson, whose work I wasn’t previously familiar with, has some impressive pipes that complement Rand’s trademark riffage well.
Listen to “The Nothingness” below. Rand says an EP will arrive this summer.
