Hannes Grossmann (Alkaloid, ex-Obscura) Posts Triumphant New Track, “The Sun Eaters”
Hannes Grossmann, best known for his work drumming for bands like Necrophagist, Obscura, Blotted Science, Alkaloi, and Hate Eternal, has unveiled “The Sun Eaters,” the debut single from his forthcoming fourth solo album, To Where The Light Retreats.
Joining the talented multi-instrumentalist and songwriter this time around are guitarist Danny Tunker (Alkaloid, ex-Aborted), bassist Linus Klausenitzer (Alkaloid, ex-Obscura), and vocalist V. Santura (Dark Fortress, Triptykon). The song is a dizzying, three-and-a-half minute, triumphant slice of tech-death full of hooky riffs and melodies that swiftly leave most bands in this genre far off in the dust. If there’s anyone better at this style of music than Hannes, it’s a very, very short list.
Grossmann comments of his latest:
“I am beyond thrilled to present the first song off my new album. It took a lot of work writing, recording and mixing it, but the effort paid off eventually. As a solo artist I aim to create fresh ideas which at the same time carry the spirit of a sound I started with Obscura back in 2009. But the most important thing for me is having fun with it.
“On this song and also on the rest of the album, I had some help from my very talented Alkaloid bandmates. It’s mind-boggling how Danny Tunker recreated the guitar solo I wrote almost note-by-note without even a sweat.”
