Jason Becker Is Home
Guitarist Jason Becker has returned home from the hospital, where he was receiving treatment for a bacterial infection.
Last week, Becker’s mother, Pat Becker, revealed that the iconic guitarist has recently been “in constant contact with his doctors” after “experiencing shortness of breath and a rapid heart rate.” Becker was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in 1991.
Two days after Ms. Becker’s announcement, things seemed to take a turn for the worse, as Mr. Becker was admitted to the hospital.
Over the weekend, Becker’s sister-in-law, Amy, offered fans the following update:
“Jason is still in the hospital receiving iv fluids and antibiotics.
“He really likes his doctor. The doctor is very optimistic that antibiotics will improve his bacterial infection.
“Jason is hoping to come home in a day or two.”
Now Becker’s father, Gary Becker, has taken to social media to let fans know that the guitarist is, indeed, now home and recovering:
“Jason is at home, sitting on his back deck with his cats!”

A multi-month mega-fundraiser on Becker’s behalf, featuring scores of famous metal guitarists, has been underway since March. The next performance is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, April 13, and is set to include Polyphia’s Tim Henson. More information is here.
