Listen To the Title Track From Bodom After Midnight’s Debut EP
Alexi Laiho’s post-Children of Bodom project, Bodom After Midnight, have debuted their first single — the title track from their debut EP, Paint the Sky with Blood.
Unsurprisingly, Bodom After Midnights sounds more or less exactly like Children of Bodom. I ain’t complainin’.
You can check out the song via the below music video, although I found it to be kind of a bummer… maybe I’m projecting, but Laiho looks visibly unwell to me.
The guitarist/singer, of course died late last year. According to his ex-wife, Kimberly Goss, his toxicology report says Laiho died of “alcohol-induced degeneration of the liver and pancreas connective tissue” and “had a cocktail of painkillers, opioids and insomnia medication in his system” at the time of his death.
Bodom After Midnight guitarist Daniel Freyberg (also ex-Children of Bodom) has said that Paint the Sky represents the only material ever recorded by Bodom After Midnight before Laiho’s death. Hearing the band now, we can only imagine how far they might have gone had Laiho lived.
Paint the Sky with Blood comes out April 23 on Napalm. Pre-order it here.
