Liquid Tension Experiment Go “Hypersonic” on New Single
LTE3, Liquid Tension Experiment’s first new album since before someone who can now legally drink was born, was supposed to come out this Friday. Sadly, there is no God, and the album was pushed back a few weeks, to April 16. Not the biggest deal in the world…
…but I mean kind of a big deal, especially if you’re like me and you have a diagnosed medical allergy to James LaBrie that’s bad it requires you to carry an EpiPen, thus making LTE3 pretty much the most excited you’ve ever been for anything related to Dream Theater.
So the band’s latest single, “Hypersonic,” is a consolation prize, sure… but as far as consolation prizes go, it’s pretty great. Even if this style of prog isn’t normally your thing, I’d recommend watching the music video — it’s not visually arresting or anything, but watching these guys play is just mind-blowing. “Hypersonic” is a beautifully choreographed ballet of digits and limbs. If you say you’re not impressed by the musicianship on display here, you’re lying.
Watch the video below. I would also recommend the previously-released LTE3 singles “The Passage of Time” and “Beating the Odds.” You can pre-order the album here.
