Leeway Singer Eddie Sutton Diagnosed with Lung Cancer
Leeway singer Eddie Sutton, who is 50 years old, has been diagnosed with stage three adenocarcinoma, a form of lung cancer.
According to WebMD, adenocarcinoma, which can manifest in several different organs in the body, is a type of cancer “that starts in the glands that line the inside of one of your organs.” With regards to lung cancer specifically, the site says, “Adenocarcinoma makes up about 40% of lung cancers. It’s most often found in the outer part of the lungs and grows more slowly than other types of lung cancer. You usually get it if you’re a smoker or used to be one.”
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help Eddie cover medical costs associated with treating the cancer, which starts with chemotherapy later this month.
A message from Eddie on the GoFundMe page reads:
“I spent a full week in the hospital getting all tests necessary and the doctors feel this can be treated. They at first found a malignant mass on the top part of my right lung which is the culprit that caused me pain for over 2 weeks before I walked into an ER…I didn’t have any healthcare at the time I’m now trying to acquire state healthcare (Medicaid) because this is going to be expensive even with healthcare
“I need the help of my friends and family more than ever and I hope each of you know how much this means to me. I have a lot to look forward in life still and I don’t want to leave this world in such a condition
“My love and respect to you all and thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support”
The GoFundMe campaign has already reached nearly $9,000 at the time of this article’s writing, more than four times the $2,000 it was seeking. With some help from the hardcore and metal community, let’s push it way beyond that, as costs are likely to spiral quite quickly.
Donate here if you can! On behalf of everyone at MetalSucks, we wish Eddie a speedy recovery.
