Abbath Enters the Studio
Abbath, bearer of the most easily-recognizable corpse paint design in metal (his music is also pretty good), has entered the studio to begin work on his third full-length studio album.
The former Immortal frontman shared the above image on social media, along with this message:
“In the beginning of February, we have entered Dub Studio in Kristiansand with producer Endre Kirkesola to record what will be the third Abbath album. The record is due later this year and promises to be everything you have learned to love about Abbath’s music and then some.
“Expect to be blown away, this is some of the best material we’ve written so far – hard, heavy, catchy and huge. The best of all worlds.
“More details of the release will be posted soon, stay tuned for updates.”
Those are some big words, but Abbath has the cred to back ’em up: not only was his work with Immortal, y’know, immortal, but his first two solo outings, Abbath (2016) and Outstrider (2019), both SLAYED. So. Yeah. Odds are this’ll be good, too.
This latest offering will also be notable ’cause it’ll be Abbath’s first since he got sober at the end of 2019, following a show in Argentina at which he was noticeably too intoxicated to play. He subsequently entered rehab.
So… new Abbath album hopefully coming before the end of 2021! Make room on your year-end list now.
