Danzig Releases First Trailer for His New Horror Western, Death Rider in the House of Vampires
Glenn Danzig’s debut as a feature filmmaker, Verotika, was so poorly received you’d think Danzig would stick to what he’s best at: getting winded fifteen seconds into live shows.
But no! Glenn didn’t get where he is today by being a quitter! So he’s now made a SECOND movie, a vampire western called Death Rider in the House of Vampires. While it doesn’t have a release date yet, it does now have a trailer, which you can watch below.
Did Danzig learn anything from the disaster that was Verotika? It doesn’t look that way! It looks like an inadvertently campy mess made for less money than the sandwich I ate for lunch today cost.
I was especially taken by how the hat brims are constantly causing shadows to block the view of the actors’ eyes. This is a problem cinematographers have successfully overcome for a hundred years, but not Glenn. So I looked into it, and it turns out the Misfits frontman not only wrote, directed, and co-stars in this thing, but he was one of two cinematographers, as well. The other was a dude named Pedja Radenkovic, whose prior credits include such gems as Bikini Model Academy. So if Death Rider is visually sub-porn quality, well…
At least the cast is more impressive: it includes Julien Sands (Arachnophobia, Warlock), Eli Roth (Inglorious Basterds), and Danny Trejo (92% of all movies made in the past thirty years).
It also includes former teen heartthrob Devon Sawa (Final Destination, Idle Hands), who has previously starred in another terrible movie for a musician-turned-writer/director — Fred Durst’s The Fanatic. Which is too bad — I just saw Sawa in this insanely disturbing movie called Hunter Hunter, and he was actually quite good. He deserves better than this.
Here watch this dreck and laugh:
