Watch: Dude Covers Tool’s “Lateralus” on the Hammered Dulcimer, Slays It

One of these days we’ll get a member of Tool to sit down in front of their phone for MetalSucks‘ patented series of musicians watching YouTube fan covers of their own songs. That day is not today.

If that ever were to happen, though, we’d definitely show Adam, Danny or Justin (as if Maynard could ever be bothered!) this version of “Lateralus” on a hammered dulcimer, as performed by Anthony “Bones” Reid. The level of skill, precision and finesse required to play the hammered dulcimer boggles my mind, and the fact that Anthony is able to sing while doing all that in god knows what time signature… ????

As for Maynard, the Tool frontman recently revealed he contracted Covid-19 in the very early days of the pandemic (before it was even labeled as such), and is still suffering from lingering symptoms of the disease, a so-called “long-hauler.”
