BREAKING: Saliva’s Reunion with Josey Scott “Has Been Put on Hold”
Of all the great tragedies to befall the world during this pandemic, none hit harder than the postponement of the rumored reunion between nu-metal outfit Saliva and erstwhile frontman Josey Scott, who left the band in 2011. There’s the fact that 400,000 people in the U.S. alone have died, millions are out of work (including in our industry), there’s the tours that never came to be and possibly never will like that Deftones/Gojira/Poppy run, and then there’s this. It hit fuckin’ hard, man, even though it turned out that the so-called “Nu-Metal Revival Tour” — set to feature Saliva, Powerman 5000, Adema and Flaw — would feature Bobby Amaru, the band’s vocalist since Scott left. That tour, like everything else last year, also didn’t make it.
To add insult to injury, it now seems as if a reunion between Saliva and Scott won’t happen, at least not anytime soon. During a recent appearance on The Chuck Shute Podcast, Saliva drummer Paul Crosby addressed Scott’s status with the band, explaining that any talks of a reunion fizzled out when the pandemic came along, with the band preferring to get their existing house in order first and foremost. He said:
“Honestly, that is completely [Josey’s] decision. I’m not sure where his head’s at. There was talk of all that, and then the pandemic put the brakes on it. And, obviously, we’re still dealing with the remnants of the pandemic, so I’m not sure what’s gonna play out. All I can is that all that has been put on hold at least for now — till everything clears up, and then maybe we’ll revisit it.”
Not exactly encouraging news. I know, I know… this one really hurts. I’m so sorry, everyone.
MetalSucks will, naturally, keep you all apprised of this crucially important and devastatingly heartbreaking story.
