Michael Anthony and Eddie Van Halen Didn’t Get to Reconcile Before the Guitarist’s Death
In a new interview with Talkin’ Rock with Meltdown, former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony revealed that, unlike Sammy Hagar, he did not get to make peace with Eddie Van Halen before the guitarist died.
This despite the fact that Eddie was reportedly plotting a reunion with all Van Halen members past and present — including Anthony, Hagar, David Lee Roth, and possibly even Gary Cherone — prior to his death.
Said Anthony:
“We actually hadn’t spoken [for many years], and unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to. And, you know, it kind of bothers me, because we had some issues that were never resolved. But, I mean, what can you do? We were on track [for] a reunion, which I’m really sad that it never happened. But, you know, life and the show goes on.”
Van Halen died on Tuesday, October 8, 2020 at the age of 65 after a protracted battle with throat cancer. You can read dozens of the tributes from around the rock and metal world here.
