Metallica Racked Up Over a Billion Spotify Streams in 2020 Alone
BREAKING NEWS: Metallica are very, very popular.
The band has shared their ‘Spotify Wrapped’ figures for 2020, and to say they’re impressive would be an understatement: 53.3 million listeners in 92 countries streamed 1.1 billion — BILLION! — Metallica songs over the course of 99.3 million hours.
By way of comparison, while Linkin Park amassed 63.5 million listeners in 2020, other massively popular hard rock and metal bands like Kiss (35.5 million listeners), Scorpions (35.1 million), Nickelback (34.8 million), and Mötley Crüe (21.9 million) were left in Metallica’s dust.
Says the band of the report:
“We thought last year’s numbers were insane… you guys have outdone yourselves! 99.3M hours?! That’s like if someone started listening on October 27, 9318 B.C. and never stopped. Can anyone guess what this year’s most played song was, clocking in at 128.6M streams??
“You remain the most dedicated fans in the world – thank you for spending so much of your year with us!”
