Mudvayne Rumored to Be Plotting Reunion Tour
WolverineKills, a heavy metal social media channel and rumor mill (and former website), is reporting that Mudvayne are plotting a reunion tour.
No evidence or sources have been provided, but it’s worth noting that WolverineKills has accurately reported rumors of major stories in the past, including Jay Weinberg inheriting the Slipknot drum throne, the 2015 Mayhem Festival lineup, a Slayer tour in 2014 and a Slipknot tour in 2019.
The post, which includes an archival photo of Mudvayne in makeup, simply reads:
“Hearing A LOT Of Mudvayne Reuniting For Some Touring RUMORS…”
“Rumors” is the operative world for now, so the site’s message should be treated as such until official word is released or further proof is uncovered.
MetalSucks spoke with Mudvayne bassist Ryan Martinie last year about the “Brbr-DENG” meme that was making the rounds at the time, and Martinie offered the following about a potential reunion:
“Man, there’s always talk. Which is a good thing. I’m fortunate enough that the thing that we made together still garners some kind of interest from our fans and for those people who may have wanted to see us and never got to. There’s still kind of the ‘man, are they gonna do it?’
“I don’t have any answers for you on that front. Only that it’s fun when Mudvayne still is something that people enjoy. Like the brbr-DENG thing. Alright, cool, make some stuff up and make people laugh and share in it. But as far as it being a future item… I don’t know, only time can tell.”
Mudvayne have been on hiatus since 2010, with Chad Gray and Greg Tribbett active in Hellyeah (Tribbett exited that group in 2014 and launched a new band, Audiotopsy). Their last album was a self-titled affair, released in 2009.
Martinie has been active with Soften the Glare, a heavy jazz fusion trio whose latest album, Glint, was produced by Jamie King (best known for his work with Between the Buried and Me) and came out earlier this year.
MetalSucks has reached out to Martinie for comment on the reunion rumors but has received no response as of press time.
