This Acoustic Oceans of Slumber Performance is Absolutely Captivating

If you somehow aren’t sold on Oceans of Slumber yet — this year’s self-titled released made it to #6 on my year-end list! — here’s one final pitch before 2020 is out: an acoustic performance of “The Colors of Grace” from that very album.

While on one hand no acoustic performance can ever capture the full heaviness and nuance of a band (except, notably, Alice in Chains) — and indeed, Oceans of Slumber are typically both of those things — with all that stripped away, the spotlight shines squarely on vocalist Cammie Gilbert, who is goddamn phenomenal. If this performance doesn’t sway you, I give up.
