Into Eternity Unleash New Song, “Nuclear”
Seems like just yesterday Into Eternity released The Sirens, their first new album in ten friggin’ years, but that was actually over two years ago already. Time’s weird that way, and I’ve stopped attempting to even understand it.
The band are now back — or an abridged version of them, anyway — with a brand new song called “Nuclear.” Guitarist/founder/songwriter Tim Roth handles both guitar and vocals on this one with an assist from original drummer Jim Austin, who played on Into Eternity through The Scattering of Ashes.
Explains Roth of the song:
“It was a personal goal to release one new song in the year 2020, and here we are with ‘Nuclear.’ Hopefully this can be a welcome distraction from everything that’s been happening. Thanks a million to Jim Austin for adding some interesting and crazy drum parts. It really makes everything more chaotic, but in a good way!
“Another goal was to create a song of just melodies, arpeggios and single-note guitar lines. I didn’t want to use any of my usual heavy guitar riffing, so ‘Nuclear’ was a new songwriting challenge. I think the song is pretty catchy, so I hope all of our supporters enjoy it! The song wouldn’t have been possible without the inspiration of Yngwie Malmsteen, Dream Theater, Death and Sebastian Bach. I’m so pumped that everyone can finally have something new from us to listen to.”
I love the songwriting exercise of not using typical riffing, and I’d say Roth did a great job of it here. “Nuclear” is a fun tune and certainly still sounds like Into Eternity. I also love that he thanks both Death and Sebastian Bach in the same sentence… *mwah!* [chef’s kiss]
Those wondering the whereabouts of vocalist Amanda Kiernan, who joined the band in 2013 when Stu Bloch left for Iced Earth, worry not: a press release makes clear she is still very much in the band.
