Synthwave Sunday: Kyros, “Fear of Fear”
Been a while. Eh? I’m dusting off the old Synthwave Sunday feature for a quick word on Kyros, whose new EP, Four of Fear, is sure to delight fans of retro-tinged synth music the internet over.
Kyros describe themselves as “modern synth-prog” and that’s pretty much right. So are the comparisons to Voyager, with whom these Brits share a knack for writing insanely catchy synth-based hooks. The band describes their latest single, “Fear of Fear,” as “the most straightforward and pop-influenced sounding track” on the new four-song EP, so keep that in mind when you jam it below. In the short time I’ve gotten to know this band — starting with the full-length Celexa Dreams released earlier this year — they’ve proven a remarkably versatile, nuanced and dynamic outfit.
Check out “Fear of Fear” below. Four of Fear (not a typo) is out now: stream or buy.
Happy Synthwave Sunday, everyone! Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.
