Buy a Kitchen Sink Autographed by Tool
We can now add “Kitchen Sink Autographed by Tool” to the list of the weirdest-ever metal memorabilia items ever sold, alongside Dio’s childhood home, Guns N’ Roses’ old dryer, Devin Townsend’s old spatula, and Black Sabbath’s integrity.
No, really. I swear on Death’s discography that I am not making this up: Tool are going to auction off a kitchen sink signed by all four members of the band. In fact, it looks like singer Maynard James Keenan and drummer Danny Carey each signed twice (good luck figuring out which of those signatures belongs to guitarist Adam Jones and which of those signatures belongs to bassist Justin Chancellor).
It would also appear that Maynard’s signature is just the letter “M,” which is the most Maynard thing imaginable.
The minimum bid for the sink will be $100; it’s ultimately expected to fetch somewhere between $500 and $700.
Although I cannot for the life of me figure out why the band would choose to auction off this particular item of all things, it will be sold for a good cause — that being the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund.
Other artists who have contributed to the auction include Slash (Guns N’ Roses), Charlie Benante (Anthrax), M. Shadows (Avenged Sevenfold), and Chris Broderick (Act of Defiance, ex-Megadeth). Unfortunately, their contributions are all on the fairly normal side (e.g., signed guitars, tour posters, etc.). Borrrrrrrr-ingggggg.
