RIGHT NOW: Watch a Live Chat With Nine Inch Nails
Nine Inch Nails — by which I mean mastermind Trent Reznor and some of the most notable musicians who have played with the group over the years — will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this weekend. To celebrate, David Farrier, journalist and host of Netflix’s Dark Tourist, is moderating a live chat with the industrial outfit’s soon-to-be inductees… and that live chat is starting at 2 pm EST. Which, oh hey, is right when this post will be published!
You can tune into the chat via the YouTube player at the bottom of this post. I can’t promise it will be interesting, but with a little bit of luck, it will be another rare opportunity to hear Robin Finck’s speaking voice!
The following members of Nine Inch Nails will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Reznor tomorrow (and are thus all participating in this chat):
- programmer/keyboardist, etc. Atticus Ross (2016 – present)
- guitarist Robin Finck (1994 – 2000, 2008 – present)
- keyboardist Alessandro Cortini (2004 – 2008, 2013 – present )
- drummer Ilan Rubin (2009 – present)
- keyboardist Chris Vrenna (1988 – 1990, 1992 – 1997)
- bassist Danny Lohner (1993 – 2003)
I know some people are pissy that Filter’s Richard Patrick didn’t make the cut (or, at least, Filter’s Richard Patrick is pissy that Filter’s Richard Patrick didn’t make the cut), but the name that strikes me as being missing from that list is Charlie Clouser. Clouser, who went on to compose the score for the Saw movies, was NIN’s synth player from 1994 – 2000, for the tour cycles in support of both The Downward Spiral and The Fragile. Maybe he and Reznor are on bad terms or something.
ANYWAY, the ceremony will be broadcast on HBO on tomorrow, Saturday, November 7 at 8pm EST…
…but the celebration kicked off yesterday, when St. Vincent and Dave Grohl teamed up for a cover of “Piggy.” You can listen to that here.
