Emmure on Patreon Shutdown: “We Tried Something and It Failed”

0

Emmure frontman Frankie Palmeri has addressed the abrupt deactivation of the band’s Patreon less than six months after its launch.

Reports of the deactivation surfaced yesterday, ostensibly forcing the much-maligned vocalist’s hand.

Said Palmeri via Twitter:

“To the 40 people who signed up to the EMMURE patreon. This has been a difficult year, for many reasons and it just became impossible to follow through with content. Shutting down the page became the ethical thing to do. We tried something and it failed. Sorry and thank you.”

Roughly an hour later, he added:

“Not sure what more there is to say. Try to practice having compassion and empathy. Good luck to you all. Peace.”

Palmeri did not address claims that fans hadn’t been notified of the deactivation and may still be paying their monthly Patreon subscription fee.

Last November, Palmeri began contacting followers on social media soliciting “donations” of $100 each in exchange for “free VIP and guest list spots at future shows plus exclusive merch items both at our shows and online.” The band’s Patreon launched roughly six months later.

Emmure have released three songs in 2020: the G.G. Allin-themed “Gypsy Disco,” the nu-metalish “Uncontrollable Descent,” and “I’ve Scene God,” a diss track calling out scene bands such as Attila, Thy Art is Murder, Stray from the Path, Knocked Loose, Stick to Your Guns, and Nails.
