Listen to a Preview of New Fear Factory Music
Fear Factory guitarist Dino Cazares has been all over Twitter of late, for better or worse, although I’d say overall it’s definitely working to his advantage. He’s interacting directly with fans regularly, and the old “all press is good press” adage definitely applies here, giving the upcoming Fear Factory album a huge boost in visibility months before it’s even been announced.
Dino took to his social media platform of choice once again last night to share a preview of that new album — reportedly titled Monolith and featuring Burton Seabell’s vocals, despite the singer leaving the band last month — in the form of a 25-second guitar playthrough of a song the title of which hasn’t been revealed. It’s got super-precise riffing, epic background synths/effects, and it’s heavy; in other words, sounds like Fear Factory!
Check it out:
Fear Factory vocalist Burton Seabell abruptly quit the band in September following a series of events that saw guitarist Dino Cazares acquire 100% rights to the band’s name after a years-long legal battle. Cazares launched a crowd-funding campaign to finish the band’s next album in late summer — the album was initially recorded in 2017 with Seabell’s vocals on it — which Burton then called a “scam,” distancing himself from the effort, before eventually quitting entirely. Burton then issued a longer statement that accompanied his decision to leave Fear Factory, and Cazares put out a statement of his own that left the door open for Burton to rejoin while also calling out Burton’s “lies, the negativity and the blame.” Burton closed the door on such a return, stating “I’m done.”
No release date or further details about Monolith have been revealed, although this might be the artwork.
