Mastodon and Robyn to Headline 2020 Adult Swim Festival

The Adult Swim Festival has announced its 2020 lineup (to be held virtually, of course), and I can only assume that the festival’s organizers constructed it based on a microscopic robot sent deep inside my brain to harvest ideas (or perhaps they just read my 2018 year-end best of list): Mastodon and Robyn, co-headlining! It’s almost too good to be true. Mastodon, one of the best metal bands in the world, together on one bill with Robyn, the ultimate queen of all time. Disparate genres be damned. I’m beside myself!

Robyn’s performance is being billed as “Robyn Presents Club Domo” which I believe means it’s a DJ set, not a full-fledged Robyn performance full of spirited pelvic thrusts. That’s fine, I’ll take it!

Both appearances are being referred to as “never before seen performances,” indicating they’re pre-recorded then broadcast “live” as part of the festival. Also fine.

Actual livestreams featuring Rick & Morty, Eric Andre and Run the Jewels will also take place at the event, which runs on November 13 and 14 on YouTube for free and promises “music, comedy and mayhem from your couch.” Twenty more performers and livestreams of various kinds will be announced soon.
