Alice Cooper Remembers It’s An Election Year, Releases New Video For “Elected”
Just in time for tonight’s dueling-town-halls debacle, Alice Cooper has premiered a new music video for a very old song: “Elected,” which was released as a single in 1972 before appearing on Billion Dollar Babies the following year.
The video is ostensibly intended to promote a line of “Elected”/Alice Cooper for President-themed merch. Cooper has made a lot of this merch in the past; I’m not even sure how many of these designs are 100% new. But since the election is on everyone’s mind…
(I know that sounds judgmental, but if I wrote the most famous song ever to include some variation of the word “elect” in its title, I’d do the same thing. There’s gold in them there hills.)
Honestly, the video is nothing special. But holy shit, it’s “Elected,” bruh. It’s gotta be one of five best Alice Cooper songs of all time, right? And it still sounds awesome… like, just a prime example of dirty, tasty, groovy 1970s American hard rock. This is as good of an excuse to revisit it as any.
You can watch the video below.
Cooper released a (fairly awful) new song, “Don’t Give Up,” earlier this year. You can check it out here.
