Rick Hunolt to Guest on New Exodus Album
For some fans, Rick Hunolt shall forever be Exodus’ One True Second Guitarist. This position is understandable: he played on all of the band’s album from their 1985 debut, Bonded by Blood, up to and including 2004’s reunion record, Tempo of the Damned. He’s a big, big part of Exodus’ history.
The Hunolt Faithful have reason to rejoice today, as Exodus’ Forever One True First Guitarist, Gary Holt (also formerly of some band called Slayer), has shared a video of Hunolt in the studio “laying down a SICK guest solo” for the new Exodus album. You can watch it at the bottom of this post.
This will be Hunolt’s first time recording with the band since Tempo, although he toured with them in 2012 and performed with them in 2017 and 2019.
Funny enough, Exodus’ other most-famous former guitar player, Kirk Hammett, contributed a guest solo to “Salt the Wound,” a track from the group’s last record, 2014’s Blood In, Blood Out.
The new Exodus album is expected next year. No word on how Lee Altus feels about being the only Exodus guitarist whose last name does not start with the letter H.
