One of the Dudes Who Wanted to Kidnap the Governor of Michigan Is a Metalhead

Today’s “Ruining It for the Rest of Us” Prize goes to Brandon Caserta. Caserta is one of six men who were arrested earlier today for allegedly planning to kidnap Michigan Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer, a Democrat. As reported by CNN…

“The alleged plot included plans to overthrow several state governments that the suspects ‘believe are violating the US Constitution,’ including the government of Michigan and Whitmer, according to the complaint.

“The FBI became aware of the scheme, first reported by The Detroit News, in early 2020 through a social media group of individuals, according to the criminal complaint.”

A video shared by a right wing pundit looking to deflect blame from Donald Trump, who has been egging on his more violent supporters for years, shows Caserta in a Hate Eternal shirt, with a Periphery flag hanging in the background (screen cap up top — we’re not linking back to these dipshits). Additionally, Metal Injection notes that Caserta followed several metal bands on Twitter, including Guns N’ Roses, Animals as Leaders, and Nails (gee, why am I not surprised Nails appeals to a guy like this?).

So three cheers for this moron, who has now helped to propagate the stereotype that metal fans are violent knuckle-draggers. I hope he has a fun time in prison. Putz.
