Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale Implores Fans to Vote Against Donald Trump
Halestorm vocalist and namesake Lzzy Hale has joined the growing chorus of rock and metal stars to risk alienating fans by speaking out against Donald Trump, imploring fans to vote him out of office in what amounts to “a GOOD VS EVIL election.”
In a post to Twitter, Hale attempted to frame the choice to vote against Trump in non-partisan terms, outlining the ways in which our Fascist in Chief is… well, you know. Hale’s statement doesn’t mention Trump’s opponent, Joe Biden, by name, or endorse any of his policies or viewpoints, adding that she’s “not voting for… I’m voting AGAINST,” while using the word “against” 15 separate times, suggesting she may not be the biggest fan of Biden either.
The statement reads in full:

She added in a subsequent Tweet:
“To everyone worried about me or me losing followers… don’t. My heart, soul, and music will be fine. I can live without the ‘likes’, and the approval of those who think that hate and inequality should rule the world. Can you? My life is Mine. I am not ruled by anyone but Me.”
Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee, who joined Hale on a newly released collaborative recording and has herself been outspoken against Trump in recent months, retweeted Hale’s message, adding:
“Courageous warrior sister, I stand beside you 100%. This is a fight for freedom. Vote for your life. #voteagainst #VoteHimOut2020”
Lee posted a long statement last winter in which she spoke out vocally against the myriad injustices perpetrated by Trump while in office:
“I have never spoken publicly about my political views. I can respect things I don’t agree with and I have always wanted my music to be a free place where people of all beliefs, all colors, all genders can come together and have something in common. But I can’t stand by and keep my mouth shut when my country’s freedom is taken away.
“It isn’t about one story, one side or one party vs. another. It is simply about right and wrong. What is acceptable and what’s not. This isn’t good enough for me, it isn’t good enough for any of us. We deserve better. I do not accept lying, cheating or bullying from my government. Our inheritance is a free country, but the voices of many are being twisted and drowned out by the few in power. I will never bow down to a dictator.
“It’s very hard to believe it’s gotten to this point because as an American, I’ve always had the privilege of believing in the shelter of my country, and the idea that if anyone who would abuse his power ever made it to the White House, that we would have the greater power to stand up as a nation and say no. It’s OUR country. We can’t let a few greedy suits steal it from us. We can’t let them tear us apart.
