Loud Night (ex-Ramming Speed) Unveil Raucous Single, “Holy Hell”
Boston thrash stalwarts Ramming Speed have long been favorites of the MetalSucks staff — they even performed at the inaugural (and only) Metal Suckfest back in 2011. It’s been five years since their last album, but three of the band’s members have a new outfit, Loud Night, and we’re here to tell you about ’em.
Drummer Jonah Livingston tells us that Loud Night are “much more on the dbeat/gross rock n roll/NWOBHM tip” than Ramming Speed, which is certainly true. But I’d add something else to that description: early Mötley Crüe! Those riffs! They’re right out of Mick Mars’ 1982 playbook. The Crüe comparisons go out the window as soon as the vocals start — those are definitively modern metal — but if you like big, bluesy rock riffs, hit play on the band’s first single, “Holy Hell,” right now, ya hear??
Loud Night’s debut album, Mindnumbing Pleasure, comes out tomorrow, Friday, September 25 via Vinyl Conflict Records; order here.
