Tosin Abasi and Misha Mansoor (Periphery) are Working on New Animals as Leaders Material Together
Tosin Abasi is busy working on new material for Animals as Leaders, and he’s got his old pal, Misha Mansoor of Periphery fame, along with him.
Tosin and Misha worked together on the band’s genre-altering, self-titled debut, which came out in 2009, and then teamed up again for the third Animals as Leaders album, The Joy of Motion, in 2014.
Now the duo are back at it once again in keeping with their every-other-album collaboration schedule. In a video posted to Misha’s Instagram last night, Tosin can be seen doing what Tosin does best, ripping out some monster leads and grooves, at what appears to be Misha’s home studio. And in case there’s any doubt that the collaboration is, in fact, Animals as Leaders and not some side project, the caption makes it clear:
“Back at work on the new @animalsasleaders with the boys. So stoked for you guys to hear what we are cooking up! ???? ???? ????”
Animals as Leaders’ last album, The Madness of Many, came out almost exactly four years ago, in November of 2016. Here’s to hoping we can hear the fruits of their current labors in early 2021! Watch the clip below.
