Original Post:
Born of Osiris have announced a drive-in show in their native Chicago in October, becoming the first metal band of note to schedule a live, in-person performance at a drive-in theater. (Metallica hosted drive-in events in August, but those featured a pre-recorded show projected onto a screen).
A car pass for up to four people costs $160 (additional passengers can be added for $25 each), which at $40/pop for a full car is a bit on the pricey side for a Born of Osiris show, no offense to those guys. Perhaps aware of this dissonant value proposition, all attendees will receive a limited, exclusive event poster signed by Born Of Osiris along with a free gift bag, distributed in a contactless manner on the day of show. I reckon those add-ons will woo a lot of folks on the fence about spending $40, especially in light of how rare anything resembling a concert experience has become. If I lived in Chicago I’d go for it!
What’s this show gonna look like? Will fans respect distancing and stick to their car pods or will they get antsy once booze kicks in? If we do see any circle pits, hopefully they’re of the variety pictured on the gig poster.
The show will take place on October 8 at the Lakeshore Drive-In in the Adler Planetarium parking lot, right on the shores of Lake Michigan. Tickets are available here. Early bird car passes are currently available at a discounted rate of $145. VIP Viewing passes that promise a “center view” are $215.
