Hatebreed Tease New Album (Again); New Single Coming Tomorrow?
UPDATE, 12:03 p.m.: Metal Injection reports that the album will be called The Weight of the False Self, and that it will be released on November 27. Here’s the album artwork, by Eliran Kantor:
The original story follows below.
It looks like Jamey Jasta’s powers of positive thinking are about to really pay off for Hatebreed fans: the band has released a video teasing their new album, even going so far as to suggest that they’ll release a new single tomorrow (Friday, September 11).
That’s excellent news, ’cause as you may recall, the band was originally slated to release the album in the spring. But after the premiere of the first single, “When the Blade Drops,” the record’s release was “postponed indefinitely.” At the time, Jasta blamed the closing of “retail + pressing plants in EU & N. America” due to the coronavirus pandemic, “making manufacturing/pre-orders impossible.”
But now we have this new video. Liberally utilizing the Inception “BRAAAM” sound, the video proclaims that “There is one band who can create light at the end of the dark tunnel that has been the year 2020,” before declaring “Hatebreed returns 9/11/20.” It also features a brief sample of what I assume is the new single.
Assuming the new Hatebreed album actually does come out in 2020, it will still only be the second-coolest thing Jasta has released this year, after Jasta Pasta, which is a real thing that has restored my faith in capitalism.
(The band also makes beer now, but that’s not nearly as life-affirming as Jasta Pasta.)
