Entombed Vocalist LG Petrov Has Cancer
Lars Göran Petrov, vocalist for pioneering Swedish death metallers Entombed, has announced that he is battling cancer. Calling his diagnosis “uncurable” without specifying which part of his body is affected, Petrov is currently undergoing chemotherapy to help keep the cancer under control.
Petrov made the announcement alongside a GoFundMe to help him cover living expenses in his final days, stating:
“I’ve been hit with uncureable cancer (gallvägscancer in Swedish), and have been battling it for some time now. It can’t be removed but the doctors are trying to control it with chemo therapy. Life takes its weird turns…
“To help a fellow metalhead in need in these difficult times, feel free to donate here!”
The GoFundMe campaign has already raised 88,270 SEK (roughly $10,136 USD) since launching five hours ago.
Petrov performs on all of Entombed’s albums except for Clandestine (1991). After Entombed split up in 2014 he launched Entombed A.D. to carry on the band’s legacy.
We wish Petrov and his family all the best during this difficult period.
